The Vesta Class Mk5 is a battle cruiser built in the Magellan Ship Yards in 2705. It is part of Starfleet's plan to get back to exploration as well as fleetwide offense and defense modernization. It still, however, has the defense and combat abilities of most current ships, but has all of them in one ship. The original Vesta Class, the USS Aventine, was given to Ezri Dax in 2381 after she was promoted to captain. The original ship class was also the first class to utilize the Quantum Slipstream Drive and the Mark 5 was later had been upgraded to the more reliable and faster Transwarp Drive.
